Lost GTA Online characters and ranks cannot be recovered

Those that lost characters and ranks in GTA Online while the games was going through its growing pains aren’t going to be able to recover them. While Rockstar is making amends by offering players an injection of fiscal stimulus to the tune of $500,000 GTA bucks, they’ve confirmed that your progress and characters will not return.

Over on the Rockstar Newswire, the GTA Online maker said “For those asking about their lost characters and rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Lost Santos & Blaine extra sweet.”

With launch pains getting smaller and smaller in the rear-view mirror, it’s soon going to be time for Rockstar to implement all of the other functionality that was promised for GTA Online. Rockstar says that things like heists and user-created content “are indeed in the works”.
