Madden 17 is set to be the latest in EA’s annual franchise, which had planned a reveal event for later today to unveil the cover for the upcoming game, along with the first gameplay trailer for this year’s entry. However, the official Xbox website has jumped the gun and seemingly leaked our new cover star and some details about the game.

Based on these images from the official Xbox website, it appears that Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski is going to be the cover star for Madden 17, unless they leaked these on purpose to surprise us later today. Gronk is a solid choice as he is certainly one of the stars of the league, though he can be pretty polarizing. Besides the cover image, we also got a couple screenshots and a description of the game that hints at some gameplay additions.

“Take your team all the way in Madden NFL 17 with a renewed focus on Franchise mode, putting you at the center of your team’s Championship run. Arm your team for gridiron glory on both sides of the ball with the most balanced gameplay to date, featuring all-new ball carrier feedback cues, defender fake out mechanics and an innovative, authentic defensive AI system. Madden NFL 17 is the most complete Madden … ever.”

All three digital versions for Xbox One will come with a free 1 month trial to EA Access for pre-ordering. The base game will come with nine Madden NFL Ranked tickets and up to seven Madden NFL Ultimate Team Pro packs. Deluxe and Super Deluxe will each come with 30 Madden NFL Ranked tickets, with the two coming with 10 and 30 Madden NFL Ultimate Team Pro packs respectively.
