In a new musical gameplay trailer, players can get a chance to check out some fresh combat focused gameplay of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. The game takes the Mario and Rabbid franchises, mixes them together, tosses in turn based strategy, and out comes something totally new for both series. We’ve seen some gameplay before, but nothing quite like what’s featured in the video below.

Featuring a new boss that hasn’t been seen anywhere before, the gameplay trailer is certainly unique. Along with seeing and hearing the new boss you’ll also get to see some combat gameplay in action. Mario + Rabbids is something totally new for the franchises, so players might not know exactly what to expect.

It is very reminiscent of XCOM and XCOM 2, some of the biggest turn based strategy games out there. I was using a lot of my XCOM skills when I went hands-on with Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle at E3 back in June. I was quite impressed with what I saw, calling it one of the best games of E3 2017. The simplified nature of the turn based combat was something really fun and interesting to try out.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle hits Nintendo Switch on August 29th.
