Mewtwo’s two different types of Mega Stone are now available in Pokemon Sun and Moon thanks to a new mystery gift giveaway in the game. By entering a code you can get both versions of the Mega Stone, allowing you to transform Mewtwo into either Mega Mewtwo X or Y. Here’s how to get Mewtwo’s Mega Stones in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Just follow these steps:
1. Select Mystery Gift on the main menu.
2. Select Receive Gift.
3. Select Get with Code/Password, then Yes, and then Yes again to connect to the Internet.
4. Enter the code M2DESCENT
5. Watch as you receive Mega Stones!
6. Speak to the deliveryman in any Pokémon Center to pick up your Mega Stones.
7. Be sure to save your game!

Of course, if you’ve only been playing Pokemon Sun and Moon you might be wondering “where do I even get Mewtwo”. The answer is, you can’t. He is not featured in Sun and Moon. However, he is available in past games, and the Pokemon Bank now works for S&M, allowing you to carry him over. This process also strips him of his Mega Stone, so this is now the first and only way to Mega Evolve Mewtwo within the newer games.

Mega Evolution was a huge part of the Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire experience. New evolution forms were added in each, with X and Y representing the introduction of the new feature. With Sun and Moon it seems like Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are pulling back a bit on the feature, as no new evolutions were introduced, and getting Mega Stones has been a pain for most Pokemon.

More of these giveaways are planned though, so expect to be able to see your favorite Mega Evolved Pokemon in Sun and Moon very soon.
