GTA Online is all about cash, and the acquisition of it. And Rockstar Games might be planning on letting players purchase this cash via online microtransactions, if a recent rumor turns out to be true. While it’s not available for purchase just yet, a recently discovered file suggests that Rockstar will be selling cash cards in multiple denominations for GTA Online.

Parsed over on Reddit, users discovered that cash may be purchasable in the 100k, 200k, 500k, and 1.25m varieties, though no pricing structure was discovered. A short description was found in an XML file on Rockstar’s website.

“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting.”

With this rumor making its rounds, some are even beginning to suggest that cash has been made harder to get in hopes that you fork over more real world dollars for the virtual currency. The problem is, it’s far too early to tell what kind of impact it will have on the game, as none of this has been confirmed by Rockstar. Nor has any explanation been given as to how the program would work. As is the problem with these sort of schemes, if not handled correctly, you can get into a pay-to-win scenario.

GTA Online is due out in early-October as a free add-on to the game which was released last week.
