Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has managed to rake in $775 million dollars for Activision in just five days.  This time last year, Call of Duty: Black Ops had set records of its own with $650 million in sales, which broke Modern Warfare 2’s previously held 5 day record of $550 million.  This figure “shatters”  theatrical box office, book and video game sales records sell-through in dollars.

Users logging into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on day one were up as well.  On November 8th, 7 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Modern Warfare 3.  This is also an increase over Call of Duty: Black Ops, which saw 5.9 million hours logged on its release.

Modern Warfare 3 has taken over Xbox Live as well.  Major Nelson reports that Call of Duty: Black Ops has finally been dethroned as the number on played game this week.  Logging 3.3 million unique players at it’s peak, left Modern Warfare 3 the top game of the week, with Call of Duty: Black Ops behind for the first time since its launch, and Battlefield 3 sitting pretty at number three.
