If you were a gamer back in the 1990’s there was one particular fighting franchise that was a must play. The infamous Mortal Kombat series has been a smashing hit causing friends to flock from arcades to consoles. Although the series was available on several consoles, Wii U owners shouldn’t expect any re-releases for the original three video games.

The Mortal Kombat series spanned over several games and consoles. For those fans of the 1990s who wish to play though the original three titles within the series could do so across the Xbox Live marketplace, PlayStation Network and even PC but one place it won’t end up is the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console.

News broke from a fan tweeting co-creator Ed Boon on what the chances are for a re-release of the original three Mortal Kombat titles on the Wii U. Ed tweeted back saying that there was a 0.0% chance of a re-release happening. However, in the past, Ed Boon spoke highly of the Nintendo Wii U saying that the hardware alone would mean for an interesting Mortal Kombat concept.
