Saber Interactive has revealed that they will be releasing a follow-up to NBA Playgrounds later this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch. Simply titled, NBA Playgrounds 2, this sequel will introduce a new line-up of online and local multiplayer modes, as well as new courts, and a new ranking system with divisional ladders.

The game will also usher in Season Mode, which is a new single player experience, which Saber Interactive says is aimed at recreating the feel of the NBA Season and Playoffs in hopes of making a championship run.

The developers say that there are other improvements coming to the game as well. NBA Playgrounds 2 will feature dedicated servers and improved matchmaking. The game will feature four-player online matches, as well as some returning modes like the three-point contest. The game will feature over 200 current and former NBA players, with some of the biggest names in the sport.

The game is said to be arriving in 2018, but an exact date has not yet been given. NBA Playgrounds 2 is “expected” to hit the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch later this year.

The original NBA Playgrounds launched a little less than a year ago. If you’ve never played NBA Playgrounds, you can check out our review and gameplay to get an idea of what to expect from the upcoming arcade basketball title.
