It was recently announced that there will be an original character included in the upcoming fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ called Android 21. This is a character that never appeared in the Dragon Ball Z manga or anime, but that was created by Akira Toriyama specifically for this game.

According to Siliconera, Android 21 is a scientist whose genius rivals Dr. Gero’s. It is stated that she will play a big role in Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s main campaign story, which will tell an alternate timeline story heavily featuring Android 16. It is unknown at this point if Android 21 will be a playable character herself or if she is included only for story purposes.

Along with the announcement of Android 21, two more playable characters were also revealed. Yamcha and Tien officially join the roster and they both will have some of the signature attacks they’re known for. Yamcha will be able to use Spirit Ball and Neo Wolf Fang Fist and Tien can use Neo Tri-Beam Meteor. It was also revealed that Chiaotzu will be in the game, but only as an assist character rather than another playable one. It is not entirely clear yet what his role as an assist character will be.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to release in February of 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
