The Pokemon Company and DeNA are teaming up for what is seemingly a new Pokemon game slated to be released next year. The news comes out of Twitter where Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki revealed the partnership between the two for the new mobile Pokemon game. Mochizuki says that the two companies have teamed up to “release a smartphone game by March next year” and that more will be announced when appropriate.
While there are plenty of Pokemon games currently available for smartphones, like Pokemon Shuffle, Pokemon Duel, Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Pokemon GO, it’s unclear what the two are teaming up for. DeNA has had their hands in other popular Nintendo titles for smartphones through a partnership with the game maker. DeNA contributed to the development of Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, and the upcoming Mario Kart Tour.
Next Mobile Pokemon game said to arrive in March 2020
It’s hard to imagine too many similarities to the incredibly popular mobile title, Pokemon Go. Just what will the next Pokemon mobile game be? It’s hard to tell at this point, but with a release window less than a year away we should hear something about it within the next 10 months.
Pokemon fans have a lot to look forward to right now and in the year ahead. Of course there’s the Detective Pikachu movie that is currently in theaters. Then there’s that pair of highly anticipated games in the series, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield which are slated to arrive in late 2019. Now, it appears that Pokemon fans will continue to have more to look forward to with this new mobile Pokemon game set to arrive in March of 2020.
