Nintendo has announced the release of two limited edition New Nintendo 2DS XL featuring a special design inspired on Pokemon. The first one imitates the design of a Pokeball, featuring the classic white and red colors and even some pieces of the iconic object. The other design is inspired on the face of Pikachu, although this one has only been confirmed for the Japanese market so far.
The special edition consoles are expected to launch in November 3rd, just in time to celebrate the launch of the new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games, although so far there are no plans to bundle the console and the games together.
As one of Nintendo’s prime franchises, the company is used to release limited editions of their consoles featuring imagery of the series. In this case, the new consoles can be appealing to any fan who might want to renew their 3DS console in any of its many variations for the New 2DS XL, the latest model of the console that prescinds of the 3D effect, but is much larger than the regular 2DS, features a right stick for improved controls, and has an amiibo scan incorporated, making this one of the finest variations of the handheld console ever released.
Additionally, the company also announced that the New 2DS XL version in white and orange will launch in North America on October 6, after being available in Europe and Japan since July.
