Ahead of a full gameplay presentation at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has shared three new screenshots from the upcoming Resident Evil 7 free DLC chapter ‘Not a Hero,’ led by franchise icon Chris Redfield. The images reveal a more action-based gameplay than the base game, with Chris even perfoming some form of melee attacks in order to give the final blow to some enemies. Other details like character design and the interface give clues on the expanded weapon selection and new types of enemies.
While the main adventure of Resident Evil 7 was based on the concept of a regular civilian fighting against the latest bioweapons, the Not a Hero DLC presents Chris Redfield as an experienced member of an assault team, ready take control of the situation thanks to his powerful equipment and his special training. Based on that, the screenshots reveal that Chris will be able to finish up the Molded with various melee attacks like stepping on their head.
Another screenshot reveals an air meter present on screen that will likely read the appearance of poisonous gas generated by a new kind of Molded creature. The third image likely confirms this as it shows Chris holding a gas mask with his hand.
Not a Hero will be released for free to all Resident Evil 7 owners on December 12th. On that same day Capcom will launch another DLC chapter called End of Zoe which can be purchased separately or as part of the season pass. Fans who still haven’t played the game have the chance to get the main adventure and all the additional content in one package called Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition. See the rest of new screenshots below.
