Afro Samurai fans looking to get another dose of hack and slash action will not have to look any further as Versus Evil and Redacted Studios have announced Afro Samurai 2: Revenge Of Kuma coming to next-gen platforms and PC.
Afro Samurai 2: Revenge Of Kuma looks to give players more stylized violence that the franchise is known for and some top notch story and animation to boot. As you can see from the trailer below, these are just scenes that will play out in the game and they are pretty darn brutal. Here’s the official synopsis from the site:
“Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma continues the action-packed saga of Afro Samurai, but this time follows the narrative of one of Afro’s closest friends Jinno, who blames him for the death of their friends and family. Fueled by an insatiable sadness Jinno endures a series of painful body modifications that transform him into a cybernetically enhanced killing machine called Kuma. Now, emotionally broken, his mind twisted from the pain of his memories and the sadistic modifications to his body, Kuma awakens with one goal in mind; bloody revenge for the pain his old friend and ‘brother’ Afro Samurai caused following the great battle at the Red Gate of Mt. Shumi.”
Interestingly they are pulling out all the stops with ‘American Sniper writers James Defelice writing the original story and the soundtrack behind handled by RZA. Phil Lamarr will be doing the role of Brother 3 and Yuri Lowenthal will play Kuma. So far no confirmation if Sam Jackson will reprise his role as the Afro Samurai himself.
Afro Samurai 2: Revenge Of Kuma is set to release sometime in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
