The Xbox One has gotten its fair share of firmware updates since its release nearly two years ago, but Microsoft has the most visually different update still coming. Being called the New Xbox One Experience, this update is not coming until November, but has been available to certain Xbox One Preview Program members for a couple weeks. For the lucky ones that were chosen, a brand new update is now available for you.
Major Nelson revealed yesterday that an update for New Xbox One Experience Preview Program members would be coming before the end of the day that includes a number of new features, while also streamlining a few areas.
The Party text chat now offers more communication options, including the ability to use text chat within parties with relative ease. The Game DVR experience has also been improved, by combining the functionality of the Game DVR snap app and what was known as the Upload app. Now, this is simply known as Game DVR, with all the features of both in one.
Animated avatars are also here, which will be animated in your profile, as well as others areas in this new UI. This isn’t required though, as you can just go with a regular image as well. The menu itself has become easier to use, by updating for “quick access to common actions.” By simply using the menu button on the controller, any app or game can be pinned to Home, while also being able to launch a recently played game or quitting a game or app in the same fashion.
The last addition are new settings within the Guide, including the ability to adjust headset volume or even be able to turn off or restart the Xbox One system from the Guide.
These should be rolling out right now, so if you do not have it yet and are part of the New Xbox One Experience Preview Program, you should be getting it very soon.
