When NHL 15 made its debut on then next-gen consoles, one of the biggest flaws was the fact that it was missing many key features that had made the franchise great. One of these missing features was EA Sports Hockey League, a fan-favorite mode that lets you create your own player, join a team, and compete against others online.
The mode was originally introduced in NHL 09, but was not featured in NHL 15 due to the transition to PS4 and Xbox One. It will make its return in this year’s entry, NHL 16, which will be released on September 15th.
Before that happens though, there will be a beta to test out the feature and make sure it is ready for primetime. Starting July 30th and running until August 6th, NHL 15 owners will have access tot he NHL 16 EA Sports Hockey League beta.
While the beta is only available on PS4 and Xbox One, those with a PS3 and Xbox 360 copy of NHL 15 will still be able to access it. “If you’ve upgraded to a new console, you have a chance to get access to the NHL 16 EASHL Beta. If selected, you will receive a beta access code via your EA/Origin email account on July 30 which can then be redeemed on either an Xbox One or PlayStation 4.”
Just be sure you’ve opted to receive emails from EA Sports NHL. Those on PS4 and Xbox One can just load up their game and select the new panel in the main menu hub.
EA has also issued a tweet saying that EA Access members will be able to get the beta, though no further details were given. Likely they will just open the EA Access app on Xbox One to get it.
