UPDATE: Due to the earthquake in Hokkaido, the Nintendo Direct has been delayed. We expect to hear a new date and time some time in the future.
Original Story: A brand new Nintendo Direct was just announced for tomorrow, September 6th. The presentation will kick off at 3pm Pacific Time and is said to feature both 3DS and Switch games, fulfilling Nintendo’s promise to continue supporting their older handheld device. All told, there will be 35 minutes of info about upcoming titles, so this is one that fans definitely won’t want to miss.
“Set a reminder – a new Nintendo Direct, featuring around 35 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles, is coming this Thursday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET,” reads the announcement.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the company’s biggest game for this year, so there will certainly be some information about it. However, that game is so big that it usually warrants a Nintendo Direct of its own. This presentation is an ensemble, so we’ll probably not learn too much new about the brawler.
What will be shown? Well at this point it’s anyone’s guess. Metroid Prime 4 is still lingering on the horizon, and Nintendo has some key franchises they’ve yet to bring to Switch. The 3DS, despite Nintendo’s continued support, is on its last legs so don’t expect big news there.
Once the Nintendo Direct starts up you’ll be able to watch right here.
