Kingdom Hearts 3 has still got a ways to go until its much awaited release, so over the last two years we’ve gotten the release of two different HD collections for PS3. While almost everyone expected them to leap to PS4, it sounds like that might not happen after all.
Previously, Kingdom Hearts series direct Tetsuya Nomura has stated that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX could very well make their way to PS4 at some point. However, it appears he has changed his tune in a recent interview.
When talking with Ruliweb, which has been translated by KH13, Nomura sadly dismissed the idea that it could be coming. When talking about Kingdom Hearts 3 and requests he gets from the fans about that game, he said the following.
“Recently, we also received a significant increase in requests for the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix to be released on the PS4. Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans for that.”
This is rather disappointing, but considering that the main Kingdom Hearts team was working on the HD collections prior, I guess it would be better to focus on Kingdom Hearts 3 instead.
Hopefully they can entrust someone else with the game and allow us to get them on PS4, along with a HD version of Dream Drop Distance at some point.
