In a new interview, Nolan North and Troy Baker talk about their roles in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Nolan North is of course the voice of Nathan Drake, while Troy Baker voices Sam Drake. Sam Drake is introduced in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as the older the brother to Nathan Drake.
Both Nolan North and Troy Baker were interviewed by Game Informer where they had a chance to talk about their roles in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and what it was like working with each other.
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann approached Troy Baker to talk to him about playing Sam Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Baker thought Druckmann was joking at first and hung up the phone. After that, Druckmann told Baker he wasn’t kidding so the conversation turned more serious.
In terms of the character of Sam Drake, Nathan Drake doesn’t know that he’s still alive. When Nathan sees Sam, there is a little mistrust between the two. On the other hand, he’s still relieved to be able to see his brother again.
Both North and Baker say that Nathan and Sam do have a sibling rivalry going on between them. Sam is older than Nathan, and is a little jealous of Nathan’s charm and youth. North said this rivalry is not a big theme in the game, but you will see the little quips and banter that happens during Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Baker said he became a fan of the Uncharted series back in 2007 when he borrowed a friend’s PS3. He was instantly blown away by it and loved North’s voice and performance in the game too. He said it was an honor to actually be a part of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
North said it was also great to see Baker in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End too, as he liked working with him during The Last of Us.
