Bandai Namco has shared a new trailer of the upcoming Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, which actually consists on the opening credits of the game. In the video we get a new look at the heroes of the adventure, as well as the AI companion ArFA-Sys. The opening makes clear the dirtier and post-apocalyptic look of this entry, in contrast with earlier games in the series which were more colorful and bright. We can also hear in the background the main music theme of the game, the song “Thrill, Risk, Heartless” by the singer LiSA.

The game allows players to design their own main character, customizing aspects like facial features, skin tone, hairstyles, and more. It also offers online and co-op features. The story is directly related to the Gun Gal Online arc of the series, with the protagonist being invited to the MMO by an old friend, only to realize that they have become the target of every other player in the game.

Here is an official overview: “Become the hero of Gun Gale Online in the latest game of the SAO franchise in Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. Step into the versatile landscapes and environments of Gun Gale Online with unique and realistic designs resembling something out of a sci-fi movie and numerous other weapons and fighting styles to choose from. Interact with characters from the Sword Art Online original novels, anime and previous games as you navigate a world that is vastly personalized and visually enhanced. Play as the protagonist, battle against opponents using new weapons and further customize gameplay by creating skills and abilities. Full dive into Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet!”

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet launches on February 23 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Watch the video below.
