While everyone was blown away by the huge surprise announcement at E3 2015 that Xbox One would start featuring backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games starting this fall, a fan recently tweeted Phil Spencer with what at first might have seemed a silly question. His response however was straightforward and to the point, giving hope that original Xbox games could one day be playable on Xbox One.
When posed with a “silly question” on Twitter about original Xbox games coming to Xbox One, Spencer said: “I don’t think it’s silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now.”
It’s exciting news, but a concept that is probably still a ways off, especially since Xbox 360 games don’t start releasing until this fall thanks in part to Windows 10. As of now the list of compatible games continues to grow with all of the Gears of War games just added to the list. Spencer also announced that more titles would be revealed later this week, leaving Xbox fans a lot to be excited for. Personally I think this is a great step in the right direction for Microsoft, including its focus on an impressive list of exclusive titles such as Quantum Break and Crackdown 3.
