A recent survey conducted by Superdata suggests that people in North America are more aware about the PlayStation VR over the likes of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

The survey was conducted in North America and around 49 percent of those asked are not aware of any VR device. Since VR is a new thing, this is to be expected.

For those that are aware of VR devices, the PlayStation VR came out on top as 28 percent of those surveyed have heard of it. This is ahead of the Oculus Rift and Samsung VR with 28 percent and 21 percent of awareness respectively. The HTC Vive was in last place as only 5 percent are aware of its existence.

Superdata came to some interesting conclusions based on the data they found from their survey. They say 6 million Americans intend to buy the PlayStation VR later this year. This is ahead of the 5 million that intend to purchase the Oculus Rift and 2 million for the HTC Vive.

The reason the PlayStation VR is more popular is because it’s the most affordable one and it works with a PS4. Not to mention it has the PlayStation brand name. The other two devices are way more expensive and users need powerful PCs in order to run them. Their brands aren’t so well known either.
