The relationship between Konami and Hideo Kojima has been nothing but toxic as of late and the very intriguing Silent Hills was caught in the crossfire sadly. Kojima is finishing up work on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but after that the two are parting ways for good it appears, which led to the cancellation of Silent Hills. Many fans are not giving up however and like with many other controversial topics in the industry, a petition has been started to revive Silent Hills.

The petition found on Change.org asks for Silent Hills to be revived with the original names still behind it, including Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro. The beautifully crafted P.T. served as a special kind of teaser for the game and seemed to show what the two were aiming for in Silent Hills, which would have been an excellent return for the series. Konami has said that they are far from done with the Silent Hill series, but Silent Hills itself with Kojima, Del Toro, and Norman Reedus is dead.

The petition actually asks Kojima and Del Toro to continue development on Silent Hills, even if it requires going to Kickstarter for crowdfunding. However, the major problem here is that Konami would never let this happen, as they own the right to the Silent Hill franchise. Instead, what this petition should be targeting is for these two to team up and make a game that would essentially be a spiritual successor to the now dead Silent Hills, similar to what Keiji Inafune did for Mighty No. 9. There are so many publishers that would likely be interested in this return, especially with that type of talent behind it.

Even if the petition if a little off on what it should be for, maybe if it does well, Kojima will see there is enough fans to make a spiritual successor at the least. Would you be interested in such a game? Make sure to let us know in the comments below.
