PlayStation 3 Hardware Sales Up 14% in the U.S.

Alongside NPD's report for video game hardware sales, Sony has released its internal sales numbers for the PlayStation 3. Sony pointed out that the PlayStation 3 sales are up 14% year over year in the United States for the month of May.

Alongside NPD’s report for video game hardware sales, Sony has released its internal sales numbers for the PlayStation 3.  Sony pointed out that the PlayStation 3 sales are up 14% year over year in the United States for the month of May.  This marks Sony’s fourth consecutive month of double digit year over year growth.  Patrick Seybold released the figures as well as the following statement regarding the state of the console.

“The PS3 platform is stronger than ever, and with the launch of Infamous 2, we continue to show our commitment to delivering the best and freshest lineup available to our consumers.” – said Seybold.

The platform is far from finished in 2011.  First party exclusives like Uncharted 3, Twisted Metal, Resistance 3, and others, are still set to release later this year.
