PlayStation Plus Free Games for May 2017 Revealed

Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus free games for May 2017 which are headlined by a couple of smaller, but excellent PS4 titles. Abzu and Tales from the Borderlands are the big two games, with a nice selection of PS3 and PS Vita games to back them up. We’ve already seen what Microsoft has in store for the month for Xbox Live Games with Gold, so check back soon for our monthly head to head comparison.

Here’s the full list of PS Plus free games for May 2017: Tales from the Borderlands for PS4, Abzu for PS4, Blood Knights for PS3, Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants for PS3, Laser Disco Defenders for PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4), and Type:Rider for PS Vita (Cross Buy on PS4).

So, not a massive AAA offering, but still some very solid games. Tales from the Borderlands may just be Telltale’s best game to date, offering comedy and action on a level not seen in many games. Abzu is a quiet, peaceful, and thoughtful game in the same way Journey was. This makes sense as many of the people behind that all time classic worked on Abzu as well, so if you enjoyed it then this is definitely worth checking out.

Outside of those two is’t a leaner offering this month for PlayStation Plus. We’ve seen the service deliver some massive, new, and popular games before, though Sony has been pulling back on this in the last few months. We’ve also seen some surprise hits like Rocket League, which was downloaded millions of times during it’s free PS Plus window. All of these games have been out there for a while though, so a huge surprise is probably not in the cards.

Check back soon for our monthly match up between the PS Plus free games and Xbox Live Games with Gold. It should be an interesting one.
