A New Pokemon Rumble Is Headed To Mobile Platforms

Seemingly out of nowhere, yet another new Pokémon game has arrived for mobile, this time going by the name of Pokémon Rumble Rush (formerly known as Pokéland in 2017).

Before going further, it’s worth mentioning that this is not the Pokémon mobile game that was announced late last week. As you might recall, that one is the result of a partnership between the Pokémon Company and DeNA, set to arrive by March 2020.

Instead, this one has been developed by Ambrella, making this the fifth Pokémon Rumble title the developer has been responsible for since the series debuted on the Wii back in 2009. Since then, it has received two additional titles on the Nintendo 3DS and another on the Wii U which was the first instance of any game featuring NFC figurine support. These figurines would later evolve into what is now Nintendo’s wildly successful Amiibo lineup.

And if you’re at all familiar with the history of the series mentioned above, then you’ll already know how Pokémon Rumble Rush plays, eschewing the traditional format in favor of a more simplistic beat’em up take where all players need to do is tap the screen as their Pokémon moves forward in what environment they’re in.

This is just the latest Pokémon game to head to mobile platforms, joining the likes of Pokémon Shuffle, Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Trading Card Game, and Pokémon GO.

As for this one, it’s only available in Australia on Android for the time being, but an information page for the game notes it will be made available for both iOS and Android in other regions eventually.
