Gamers are not getting treated to a mainline Pokemon game this year, but Japan has gotten something very different with the very intriguing Pokken Tournament. Strictly limited to arcades for now, the game now is testing a brand new character and the gameplay looks amazing.
Pokken Tournament combines the Pokemon franchise with the fighting styles of the long running Tekken series. This definitely is not Super Smash Bros., and that can be seen very quickly here.
This new test at the Pokemon Center Fukuoka adds fan favorite Blaziken into the mix as we see it face off again Lucario. The off screen footage obviously isn’t the greatest, but you really can get a feel for how the game plays and the overall aesthetics.
We’ve already heard that the US will be getting the game in some fashion through Dave & Busters, but hopefully Pokken Tournament will eventually make its way to consoles as well. Whether it is the Wii U in the next year or perhaps even the Nintendo NX when it releases in likely either 2016 or 2017.
Some new images were released for Pokken Tournament as well that feature Blaziken in action and look absolutely gorgeous, which can be seen in the gallery below right after the gameplay video.
