Pokken Tournament DX Debuts at Number 1 in Japan

This week’s Japanese sales bring good news to Pokken Tournament DX, as the Pokemon fighting game for Nintendo Switch enters the charts at number 1 according to Media Create. The game achieves some decent sales, although the drop from the original Wii U version’s debut is probably a sign that the title will not see its audience expanded thanks to the new console as it does have happened with other ports.

The rest of new releases of the week failed to reach important numbers, with NBA 2K18 achieving the second-highest debut at number 4 despite selling below 15.000 copies. Dragon Quest X for Nintendo Switch debuted at number 7. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite repeats the bad results from the United Kingdom, failing to reach even 10.000 sales. While this is more expected coming from a country where the Marvel brand doesn’t have the same power as in Western markets, it is still a disappointing result for one of Capcom’s most relevant franchises. Other entries in the top 20 include Project Cars 2 and a new edition of Yakuza Kiwami with a lower price.

Nintendo Switch rules on the hardware chart, where things stay pretty much the same compared to last week, only with the main three consoles dropping about 1.000 sales each.
