As part of today’s surprise Nintendo Direct Mini, an announcement was made about the Pokémon fighting game Pokkén Tournament DX. This announcement revealed that the game will be getting two “waves” of DLC that will include new playable characters over the course of the next few months.
The first of these two DLC waves, which together comprise the Pokkén Tournament DX Battle Pack, will bring the Generation VI Ghost/Steel-Type Aegislash to the game as a playable character. In the main series games, Aegislash sports both defensive and offensive forms, both of which can be used in Pokkén Tournament DX as well. This first wave of DLC will also contain the new support Pokémon Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu.
The second wave of the Battle Pack DLC will make Blastoise a playable character, as well as adding Mew and Celebi as support characters. The Battle Pack DLC is available to purchase now, though Wave 1 won’t be available to download until January 31 and Wave 2 becomes available March 23. The Battle Pack also comes with new outfits for your in-game avatar, and these outfits are available now upon purchase of the Battle Pack.
