Let the guessing games end about how Valve plans to support their latest release, Portal 2.  Valve has just issued a statement containing the contents of the first DLC for the game on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.  In the statement, Valve says that the content will be free to all platforms and offer new test chambers, leaderboads, and challenge modes for single and multiplayer portions of the game.

Since Valve also attached a big fat number one to the title, you can expect that more DLC is on the way after this first smattering hits this summer.  Will this be the first taste free approach that others publishers like Ubisoft have taken recently, or if Valve plans to support the game with free content for the entirity of the game’s life is uncertain, but for now, know that you’ll be getting free Portal 2 content in the coming months.

This is surprising news, considering that in the past, Microsoft has taken issue with allowing Valve to update their titles with free content. (see Left 4 Dead 2)
