PlayStation has taken a cue from Nintendo and started their own equivalent of Nintendo Directs now known as PlayStation State of Play, with the latest just occurring this afternoon. Prior to the stream, Sony promised a new game from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, but we certainly were not expecting the reveal of the brand new Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Exclusive to the PlayStation 4, Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetric online multiplayer shooter that is being developed by Friday The 13th: The Game developer Illfonic in a close partnership with 20th Century Fox.
The gameplay in Predator: Hunting Grounds will have a Fireteam made up of a few different players that will be trying to perform paramilitary missions in the game. However, one player in the match will be the Predator, with their goal being to take down the Fireteam.
Following the stream, the official PlayStation blog published an article from Illfonic CEO Charles Brungardt that gave some additional details about the game. He stressed that the game is taking the approach of “gameplay over everything,” which is certainly a good thing to hear. They also are trying to make the world feel as authentic as possible to the world of Predator as well, which they say Fox has been a great help with in development.
Predator: Hunting Grounds will release exclusively for the PS4 sometime in 2020.
