PS Vita System Update 3.61 Is Now Available To Download

Sony has now released system update 3.61 for the PS Vita console today. The firmware is a small one so it shouldn’t take you that long to download.

There are no patch notes for the new PS Vita system update yet. It could be another stability update as users that have downloaded it already don’t notice any new big features.

Wario64 speculates that the new update has been released to prevent recent hacks. The hack allowed users to run homebrew apps such as emulated software and more. This new update seems like it will prevent this from happening so only authorized apps can be used.

It will be interesting to see how much longer Sony will continue to support the PS Vita. The console is still doing well in Asian countries, but it’s on its last legs in many Western territories. The likelihood that the console will be getting any significant new features look slim at the moment.

The only somewhat major game out for the console will be World of Final Fantasy. Aside from that, Sony itself is not investing on making any new games for the portable console. Sony’s future relies on both the PS4 and PlayStation VR devices.
