Following a short beta test period, Sony has released almost by surprise the system update 5.50 of PS4, adding a good number of new features that while not groundbreaking, they do improve the usability of the console. You might need to install the update to enter the PlayStation Store and other online features like trophies, and if you keep your console on rest mode it probably has been downloaded already.
The update adds a number of features like a special tab for PS Plus games on the library section, so users know which titles they have received through the program and will be able to download when they have an active subscription. A new icon will now accompany to every game with VR capabilities, so PSVR owners know exactly which games have compatible content with the platform. PS4 Pro users receive a new supersampling mode, which effectively makes sure they enjoy an image of higher quality even if they are playing on a TV with lower resolution.
The Family Management section now features time stamps that reveal how much time certain users have been playing recently. Managers will also be able to set time limits for other users, which can be used to limit the playing time of the younger members.
Finally, a much demanded feature that will be available from today is the ability to set new wallpapers from images contained on an USB memory.
As you can see, these new features are aimed at many types of PS4 users. But what are other features that you would like to see in your PS4? Sign off in the comments section below.
