Christmas week was not a good one for either PSN or Xbox Live, as both were down a good percentage of the time as a result of the attacks by Lizard Squad. Luckily, it appears the worst is behind us as both networks have been for the most part up since, besides a few hiccups here and there. To help make up for this downtime, Sony previously announced that we would be getting a special 10% off coupon to use on the PlayStation Store and now the timespan has been officially revealed.
Sony revealed that the special 10% off coupon will be available this coming weekend for only 72 hours, according to the official PlayStation blog.
“The discount will be valid from 9:00 AM 1/23 PST through 9:00 AM PST 1/26. Simply use the promotion code for a one-time 10% discount off eligible items in a total cart purchase in PlayStation Store on PS3, PS4 or the web/mobile at store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Some exclusions do apply, including subscriptions for PS Plus, Music Unlimited, PS Now and rental video content. The code must be redeemed at checkout and discounted transaction completed before 1/26/15 at 9:00 AM.”
The fact that this coupon is only usable across this three day span is pretty disappointing, but the great news is that it can be used for pre-orders as well. For instance, someone in the comments asked if you could pre-order Grim Fandango Remastered and get 10% off, which received a response of “Sure!” As seen above, you cannot use this discount to extend your PS Plus however, though PS Plus members will be getting a five day extension relatively soon as a result of the downtime as well.
