Psyonix were recently featured on Major Nelson’s podcast, where they of course talked about Rocket League coming to Xbox One. However, they also got into some interesting tidbits about the development of the game, revealing that they were considering having a higher player count for the game.

Vice President of Psyonix Studios, Jeremy Dunham, said the following about the possible increased player count for Rocket League:

‘We experimented with larger player counts but it’s too crazy. Maybe one day we’ll revisit it if we ever decide to go with bigger stadiums. But for now, more than 4v4 we think takes a little bit away from the enjoyment of the game; it gets a little too crazy.”

Dunham goes on to say that the 3v3 mode is the ideal way to play Rocket League, and it appears that most fans would agree with that statement. While hopping into a 4v4 is fun on occasion, it gets a little too hectic and player counts below 3v3 can be a little slow.

Rocket League is set to launch for the Xbox One on February 17, which will also come packed with platform-exclusive Sunset Overdrive content. The game is also available on PlayStation 4 and PC, though the cross-play present between those two platforms will not incorporate the Xbox One version when it launches.
