PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is just days away from releasing on the Xbox One, but there’s been some miscommunication regarding the frame rate the game will run on across the different consoles.
Brendan Green, the Creative Director for PUBG recently said that the game would run at 60FPS on the new Xbox One X, but has apparently walked back that statement to confirm that the game will run at 30 FPS between the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.
“While I previously stated PUBG would run at higher FPS… I want to clarify that PUBG will run at 30 FPS across all Xbox One devices,” said Greene in a recent tweet to his followers.
Greene did say that it was “early in dev (development)” and that the team at Bluehole will be constantly refining and looking at options to increase FPS, but said they were unable to confirm further details at this time.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will launch into Xbox Game Preview on December 12th. Xbox Game Preview is Microsoft’s answer to Early Access. It gives players a chance to play games that are still actively in development and are not finished products. While the game will launch at 30 FPS across all platforms, it’s unclear what the future will hold for PUBG on consoles in terms of visual fidelity or quality as these are risks associated with purchasing an early access title.
Regardless, PUBG has quickly grown to be one of the most popular games of the year, despite still being in an unfinished state on PC where the game sold over 20 million copies on Steam.
Many Xbox One owners are anticipating the release of PUBG on consoles when it arrives on December 12th for $29.99.
