A public beta for Gwent, the standalone card game spin-off from CD Prokekt Red’s The Witcher series will be heading into open beta on May 24th.   The beta will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

While there have been multiple tests over the past months, this will be a fresh start for all players.  Any card collection and progress up to this point will be reset, but those who have participated in the closed testing will recieve Card Kegs and other in-game rewards for their help.  A full list of items that closed beta players get can be found on the official blog for the game.

Severs will be offline between May 22nd and May 24th while the team tranisitions over to open beta.

It sounds like on the 24th the beta will be available on the Play Gwent site whenever the servers go live.

If you’ve yet to hear about Gwent, CD Projekt Red made an entire game out of the popular in-game activity in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.  With more fit and finish than that found in the original release, it’s a different type of card game but can be compared to others like Hearthstone.

It’s one where players build decks of armies to that use spells and special abilities to win a three-round war.
