Ubisoft had said previously that Rayman Legends would be getting a release on Nintendo Switch, but that when it did come to the console it would have surprises. Well, the surprise has been revealed, as we have received new details regarding what will make the Switch version stand out from the crowd.

The game was originally announced earlier this year, where it was revealed that this Definitive Edition will only be available on Nintendo’s new console. It will include the entire base game that has been available on many other platforms, as well as an expanded Kung Foot tournament and new levels, skins and more. There will even be Mario and Luigi skins that will be available to wear for certain characters, which sounds hilarious just thinking about it. A release date for the game wasn’t given, but it will be coming at some point later this year.

The game will also have an interesting feature with local co-op, as it will allow people playing on two different systems to team up together. While there’s no online co-op for this, seeing as the console is portable means that you’ll have more opportunities to play with friends than you otherwise would have.

Rayman Legends originally launched in 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation Vita and PC, before coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. It’s a game that has certainly had the ability to be played by just about any kind of gamer out there, so whether or not getting yet another port of it this year will be worth it is up for debate. However, the original game is a classic, so those of you who have never played it will be in for a treat if you have a Switch. The game is a fantastic platformer with level design and visuals that are some of the best ever made, and certainly the best of recent memory.

While it’s great that the game has the potential to be played by a new audience, it’s a little disappointing that there’s still no news on a new game for the series. Rayman Origins launched in 2011 and Legends followed a couple of years later, so it’s high time that the next game finally gets announced.
