Daisy Ridley has revealed in a new interview that we might hear who Rey’s parents are in one year’s time. This falls in line with Star Wars: Episode 8.

Vulture interviewed Ridley and asked if Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is the mother of Rey. She denied this as Erso is too old to be the mother.

She said: “I mean, I think historically it wouldn’t work, because she is … Darth Vader is there … so she would ultimately be my great-grandma; no, she would be my grandma. I mean it could happen, especially in a galaxy far, far away.”

Another fan favorite theory question is if Rey is related to Obi-Wan Kenobi. She replied with: “We will see in a year. Just sit tight on that question“.

This is slightly promising news for eager Star Wars fans. It means that we may not have to wait until Episode 9 to know who the parents of Rey are. Rey’s parents are just one of the big question marks people have about The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Episode 8 should give us more backstory behind the character as Rey is training to be a proper Jedi with Luke Skywalker. Other details left to be answered include the identity of Snoke and how Luke’s lightsaber ended up with Maz.
