Rockstar Games have tweeted a new Wanted poster for Dutch van der Linde, leader of the infamous Van der Linde gang, ahead of Red Dead Redemption II’s impending October 26th release.

Wanted-Poster

Dutch played a part in Red Dead Redemption where John Marston, the game’s protagonist, was caught up in a effort to stop him and his gang, resulting in a giant fire fight. Since the sequel is, in fact, a prequel, we may get to see more of van der Linde’s rise to infamy, although, as the poster and trailers show us, he is already leader of the ruthless gang.

The poster details how Dutch is wanted for the the robbery of close to $150,000 (well into the millions in today’s terms) of banknotes from a a boat in Blackwater, a settlement that appears in RDR and RDR2, along with multiple counts of murder. He’s certainly not some innocent angel in the sequel and the poster goes on to describe him as charismatic and manipulative, “believed to harbor subversive, anti-American ideals.”

In Red Dead Redemption II you play as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and member of the Van der Linde gang in the waning years of the Wild West. Your role in the gang suggests that you might be part of this robbery, perhaps hinting at an opening chapter of the game, setting you up for the gang’s run from the law across America. We also know John Marston returns, meaning we can hope Rockstar let us fight ourselves, which is always a treat.

Considering that RDR sold like wildfire and it’s Rockstar, it’s almost a sure thing that RDR2 will be a critical and financial success. You can read our impressions of the gameplay trailer and watch it for yourself here.

We don’t have to wait too long to find out and wreak havoc. Red Dead Redemption II is due out on October 26th on PS4 and Xbox One.
