UPDATE: Future Shop has confirmed via Twitter that they will have a “limited supply” of the figures.

The Rosalina & Luma Amiibo is set to be one of the rarest figures, even considering the rarity of others like Wii Fit Trainer and Villager. This is largely due to it, and a few other Wave 3 Amiibos being available only in exclusive stores. Meta-Knight at Best Buy, Shulk at Gamestop, Lucario at Toys R Us, and finally Rosalina & Luma for Target. This was a problem though when news broke that Target would be closing all of its remaining stores in Canada, leaving Amiibo fans wondering if they would have to turn to imports to complete their collection. This looks to no longer be the case though as Nintendo Canada has confirmed that the Rosalina & Luma Amiibo will be available in other Canadian retailers upon launch.

Specifically Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal-Mart, EB Games, Toys R Us, and Amazon.ca will carry the formerly exclusive figure. This comes from a message sent to Controller Crusade, who asked Nintendo Canada about the problem. Their official response reads “The Rosalina amiibo will be available soon in limited quantities at the following retailers in Canada: Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal-Mart, EB Games , Toys ‘R’ Us and Amazon.ca. Please see your local retailer for more information on timing and availability.”

This likely won’t alter the overall rarity of the figure in the long run, as Nintendo will probably just shift stock away from Target to the other stores. However, it does alleviate the worry that the figure would not be released in Canada at all following Target’s closure. Target stores in the US are still the only place to get Rosalina & Luma though, aside from importing of course, so if you are in the US you might want to check with your local store. Wave 3 Amiibos are being released in stages, with some stores already putting stock on shelves for a February 1st launch. Keep checking your local retailer for more information.
