Rumor: Diablo III Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch After All

It appears that Diablo 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch after all.

You may remember last week when Blizzard led fans on Twitter to believe that Diablo 3 would be coming to the Switch after posting a video of a Diablo-shaped nightlight with a switch on it. However, it quickly snuffed out such rumors when it clarified the purpose of the post, saying that it was just a fun engagement piece and didn’t have “any current plans to announce Diablo for Switch.”

Well, a new report from Eurogamer suggests that while Blizzard has no ” current plans to announce Diablo for Switch,” there is certainly one in the works. In fact, the unnamed sources were allegedly surprised to see the post as the game’s official reveal was still several months off.

And though the veracity of the report is hard to confirm due to the sources being unnamed, it wouldn’t be the strangest thing in the world for Blizzard to port one of its titles to the Nintendo Switch.

Third-party developers have been lining up to bring their strongest games to Nintendo’s hit console and unlike many of them, Diablo III is relatively old so its not likely to be too taxing on Nintendo’s hardware. Furthermore, Blizzard used to bring its titles, such as Starcraft 64 and The Lost Vikings, to Nintendo platforms in the past.

All in all, a Diablo 3 Switch port looks pretty likely.

At this point — especially thanks to this recent report — all that that remains to be seen is when the announcement will actually come. There is the Game Developers Conference coming up at the end of the month and E3 is just a few short months away.
