Yesterday Nintendo promised a big look behind the scenes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and this morning they delivered. Putting up three individual videos, all tailored around a specific topic of the game, the new video series offers fans an unprecedented look at how this game was created. Now that it has solidified its status as one of the best games ever made, you’ll probably want to watch the making of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
You can check out all three videos below, with them being broken down into the categories of “The Beginning”, “Story and Characters”, and “Open-Air Concept”. That last one will likely offer the most in-depth discussions about what made Breath of the Wild such a big game changer for the open-world genre. Nintendo somehow took what others had been doing for years and turned it on its head, while showing how it can be improved on and modified for a more fun experience all around.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also features some big story and character changes for the series, giving us a very different take on Princess Zelda, and a few others. The story is still fairly straight forward, with a little time jump to make things feel pretty fresh.
The real meaty info though is just how this game came together like it did. How did Nintendo decide that this venerable series was due for a complete reworking, and what made them settle on the concepts that they did for Breath of the Wild.
