Sega has announced the next set of games coming to the Sega Genesis Mini, bringing the current total up to 30.
Leading the pack are some expected classics such as Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition, Golden Axe and Vectorman, but it turns out the greatest among them — and potentially the most intriguing of the confirmed games to date — is Mega Man: The Wily Wars, which is actually three games in one.
Mega Man: The Wily Wars chronicles the early parts of Mega Man’s battle with Dr.Wily, featuring remakes of Mega Man, Mega Man 2, and Mega Man 3 — all originally released on the NES. Those in Japan and PAL regions were able to get it in the form of a cartridge, but those in North America weren’t so lucky, instead being forced to purchase it through the ill-fated Sega Channel online service.
Here’s the list of newly-announced titles:
- Mega Man: The Wily Wars
- Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition
- Sonic Spinball
- Phantasy Star IV
- Beyond Oasis
- Ghouls ‘N Ghosts
- Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
- Golden Axe
- Vectorman
- Wonder Boy in Monster World
And as mentioned before, these titles will be joining 20 others that were revealed when the Genesis Mini was initially announced, as well as in an update last month. When all is said and done, the mini console will have 40 games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Earthworm Jim, Streets of Rage 2 and Super Fantasy Zone.
To recap, here are the other 20 titles announced thus far:
- Sonic the Hedgehog

The Sega Genesis Mini, packaged with an HDMI cable, a power cable, an adapter and two three-button controllers, is due out on Sept. 19 and will cost $79.99.
