Sony Won’t Allow An Early Access Version Of ARK: Survival Evolved To Release On PlayStation 4

ARK: Survival Evolved has been enjoying immense success as an early access title, with gamers putting many hours into a product that isn’t even finished. This version of the game is available on PC and Xbox One, though it looks like there are some problems when it comes to bringing it to PlayStation 4.

While bringing the game to Sony’s latest home console would seem like a no-brainer considering how popular it is, it has more to due with the fact that the game isn’t finished rather than the game itself. PlayStation 4 does not have an early access equivalent as there is on PC or Xbox One, and they do not want to release the game in an unfinished state.

Here’s what developer Studio Wildcard had to say about the PlayStation 4 release of the game:

“As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.”

So, it looks like if ARK: Survival Evolved ever does come to PlayStation 4, it will be when the game gets a proper release and comes out of early access. This can be a good or a bad thing depending on your feelings towards early access titles, but the retail version of the game will at least ensure a better chance of the game running smoothly.
