In 2016, 3rd Eye Studios was created by pulling together video game industry veterans from companies such as Remedy Entertainment, Unity Technologies, Bugbear Entertainment, RedLynx and Moon Studios. Today (February 7), the studio announced its first major title, Downward Spiral: Horus Station.

Downward Spiral: Horus Station is a dark thriller taking place in a space station with zero gravity physics. The game is devoid of dialogue and cutscenes, instead encouraging the player to discover the story on their own by exploring the environment. Players will have to fight and solve puzzles in low gravity situations (though the game’s “Explorer Mode” will allow players to just solve puzzles and avoid combat, if they should so choose), with players having to utilize the gravity to their advantage by pushing off of objects and walls, rather than just floating around. The game will also feature an ambient, electronic soundtrack composed by HIM frontman Ville Valo.

In the game’s official announcement, it is stated that inspirations for the game include 2001: A Space Odyssey, Twin Peaks and There Will be Blood. The game’s main campaign will be playable in both single-player and co-op mode. Downward Spiral: Horus Station is expected to release for PS4 and PC, with VR capabilities, sometime this spring.
