Sony promised some big revelations at their PlayStation Conference for Paris Games Week and they have delivered so far, with one of the biggest coming early in the show. Spelunky 2 has been officially announced for PS4, with other platforms likely to receive the game as well. (UPDATE: PC release via Steam has been confirmed)
There’s little info about the game available, the trailer didn’t even show any real gameplay footage. Instead it’s more of a teaser, promising fans of the popular roguelike game a new adventure full of secrets. The trailer below actually focuses a bit on story, which the game is rather light on as it is. It seems that you’ll play as the child of the adventurer from the first Spelunky.
One phrase in the trailer does offer a glimpse of what players might have in store. “Looking to the Skies” seems to imply a very different setting for Spelunky 2, pushing away from the underground cave systems of the original. Hopefully more info is released soon on this highly anticipated game.
