Star Trek: Bridge Crew is finally getting the update that fans have been waiting for. The Enterprise-D and a ton of other elements of The Next Generation will be making their way to the game later this month for PSVR and PS4, on May 22nd. HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and non-VR PC players will have to wait a bit longer, with the update hitting on July 21st.

UPDATE: The Star Trek: Bridge Crew The Next Generation DLC expansion will be a paid addition to the game. Pricing details for the US has not been shared as of yet.

This update is pretty massive, adding the new bridge along with a new role for players to try. Operations will be in charge of crew management, with the role focusing on communication and coordination that could be the key to victory. And those victories will be hard-won as this Star Trek: Bridge Crew Next Generation update will add some of the toughest and most iconic foes from the series.

Yes, the Romulans and the Borg will make their way to the game, alongside two brand new mission types. “In Patrol, players are free to roam the galaxy while exploring random encounters and answering distress calls for hours on end. Resistance mode offers more frenetic gameplay, as you and your crew are chased by the seemingly unstoppable Borg Cube and must collect three prototype ship modules before you’re able to face the Borg head-on and expect any chance of success.”

In our review of Star Trek: Bridge Crew we called the game amazing and one of VR’s best, but it did lack some key content that we felt would make the game truly amazing. The Next Generation update seems to satisfy every one of these and more, so if you left the game behind you’ll definitely want to check it out again when this patch hits.
