Earlier this year we got the semi-reboot that was EA and DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront. However, before that game came about there was another one, a direct sequel to the original games that went through a ton of development hell before finally being cancelled. A few leaks have happened since then, with fans getting to see screenshots and video of the game that Star Wars Battlefront 3 could have been, but today we have a new one that is much bigger.
The entire Star Wars Battlefront 3 development code has been leaked to the internet according to various sources, such as Reddit. There a user was able to attain a copy of the game and is sharing it with everyone. However, it isn’t as easy as downloading it and running it on PC.
“The game build works on Xbox 360 Development kits, XNA kits, Test kits, and any 360 that can use RGLoader (which makes it be treated like a Development kit) so if your 360 is modded you can get it working via RGLoader.”
A few videos have been shared on 4Chan, showing the game running. This seems to verify that this is a legitimate leak of the entire Star Wars Battlefront 3 game, and in working order. However, it is also obvious that the game was totally unfinished at this stage, featuring missing content, and a lot of bugs.
The question that a lot of people are asking now is, can someone finish the game. A lot of work wen into this release of Star Wars Battlefront 3 before it was cancelled, and modders or other developers could take what was done, polish it up, and get it into a more refined state, while also porting it into a form that can be played on PC. With Disney owning the rights to Star Wars, and EA having the video game license, it is also a question of how long they allow this content to be shared.
