The Star Wars Celebration event is being held this weekend and we are expecting tons of content to come out of it, including the first official footage of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as well as their upcoming game slate. One of those is without a doubt going to be the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II and the trailer for that game has leaked ahead of the event.
Someone seemed to have jumped the gun as the debut trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II has leaked online, which can be seen here currently, though it likely will be taken down sometime soon.
While it has been up though, we’ve gotten a chance to watch it and even though it is short, it provides a few details about the game’s story and multiplayer that spans much beyond the original trilogy like the first movie mostly stuck to.
The trailer starts off with what appears to be the much asked for single player campaign that is being added in the sequel, which looks to be taking place post-Return of the Jedi as we see a group of Imperial soldiers watching as the Death Star explodes from Endor. This is a really interesting time to take off from in the series, especially with the extended universe being wiped away previously, so we can’t wait to see what comes from the game’s campaign.
In addition, the trailer also reveals that the multiplayer will now span the eras, with us seeing Darth Maul from the prequel trilogy and then both Rey and Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens. This is what people hoped to see with the first game, especially with The Force Awakens characters, as it released only a month after the last Battlefront.
The end of the trailer also reveals that we will be getting “Star Wars: The Last Jedi heroes,” as they are listed as a pre-order bonus. Stay tuned for more details that are likely to come this weekend during the Star Wars Celebration event.
