Star Wars Episode 8 Has Officially Finished Filming

It wasn’t too long ago that The Force Awakens was in cinemas, but now Star Wars Episode 8 has finished filming as of yesterday. It’s now time for several months of post production to add the CGI.

The Star Wars Facebook page said: “Final slate of the final shot. VIII is officially wrapped. Thanks to the best cast and crew in the galaxy, and thanks to the fans for all the love and support through the whole process. Cannot wait to put it together and share it with you all! ” -Rian Johnson

Even though the bulk of the filming is complete, this does not mean the film is entirely finished. The cast and crew could always be called back for last minute re-shoots if Disney executives aren’t happy with the end product. Chances are is that the film is good as Johnson directed the entertaining Looper film.

We probably won’t be seeing any trailers or anything soon as Disney wants to promote Rogue One instead. Rogue One is out in December 2016 while Episode 8 isn’t released until December 2017.
